What to expect, session by session, as your skin responds and regrowth slows.

A twelve-week transformation

Before you begin

Two weeks before your first session, stop waxing, epilating, and plucking. These methods pull the hair from the root — and IPL needs the root present to work. Shaving is fine and encouraged; it keeps the surface clean while leaving the follicle intact.

On the day of your session, shave the treatment area. This removes surface hair so the light energy focuses on the follicle rather than burning the shaft above the skin.

Weeks 1–4: The first wave

Sessions 1–4, once per week.

In the earliest sessions, you're catching the first wave of anagen follicles. You may not see dramatic change yet — and that's normal. After each session, treated hairs gradually push out and shed over the following days.

What you might notice:

  • Skin feels smoother within a few days of each session
  • Some hairs appear to "grow" — this is actually shedding, not regrowth
  • Regrowth that does appear is often finer and softer

Patience here is everything. The follicles you can't see yet are the ones the next sessions will catch.

Weeks 5–8: The turning point

Sessions 5–8, once per week.

This is where most people start to see a visible difference. With each wave of follicles caught, the density of regrowth noticeably decreases. Areas that were once dense begin to feel sparse, and the hair that returns is often lighter and slower.

What you might notice:

  • Patches of skin that remain hair-free between sessions
  • Regrowth that is patchy and uneven — a sign that some follicles are disabled while others cycle
  • Less need to shave between sessions

Weeks 9–12: The refinement

Sessions 9–12, once per week.

By now, the majority of follicles have been treated across multiple growth cycles. Regrowth is typically minimal — fine, scattered hairs rather than dense coverage. Many people find they can begin spacing sessions further apart.

What you might notice:

  • Large areas stay smooth for weeks
  • Only occasional, isolated hairs return
  • Skin texture continues to improve as irritation from shaving decreases

Beyond week 12: Maintenance

After the initial 12-week cycle, most users shift to a maintenance schedule — a touch-up session every 4–8 weeks to catch any follicles that re-enter anagen. The FlawlessGleam device's 999,999-flash capacity is designed to carry you well beyond the first cycle and into years of maintenance.

A note on consistency

The single most important factor in your results is consistency. Skipping sessions lets follicles pass through anagen untreated, extending the timeline. A regular weekly cadence — even if brief — outperforms occasional intense sessions.

Your skin is responding even when you can't see it. Trust the cycle.
